🌙 Fake Ledger App on Microsoft App Store

Hackers made off with over $700,000 in Bitcoin and other digital assets after a fake Ledger app was served up by Microsoft.

Crypto Roundup - Nov 6

Hackers have exploited a fake Ledger app on the Microsoft App Store to steal nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency, with the theft totaling $767,238 in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB Smart Chain assets. Following the revelation by blockchain analyst ZachXBT, Microsoft removed the counterfeit app, while Ledger has not yet publicly addressed the incident. In the crypto market, XRP has led an altcoin rally with an over 22% price increase in a week, following Ripple's legal victories against the SEC and new partnerships to develop a CBDC with the central bank of Georgia. These developments have propelled XRP to overtake BNB as the fourth-largest token by market cap. Elsewhere, Bitcoin remains stable around $35,000 as market sentiment grows optimistic with expectations of a dovish Federal Reserve, especially after the U.S. jobs report indicated a potential slowdown in rate hikes.
